Nocturnal Emissions

Night-time ejaculation (“wet dreams”) can be a normal physiologic event, especially in adolescence. If episodes are distressing, very frequent, or accompanied by pain, urinary symptoms, fever, or discharge, evaluation by a urologist/andrologist is appropriate. Supportive Ayurvedic routines may help reduce strain and improve sleep hygiene.

Overview

Nocturnal emissions are involuntary ejaculations during sleep. They are common and typically benign. Persistent symptoms such as pus cells in semen, painful urination, fever, pelvic pain, or penile discharge may indicate infection or inflammation and should be clinically assessed.

Possible Causes

  • Normal physiologic ejaculation during sleep (especially adolescence/early adulthood)
  • Urogenital infections or inflammation (e.g., prostatitis, epididymitis, urethritis, STIs)
  • Stress, poor sleep, stimulant use, or irregular routines
  • Pelvic floor tension or chronic irritation

Ayurvedic Perspective (Supportive)

Classical guidance addresses balance of bodily energies, calming mind and nerves, and keeping elimination channels clear. Protocols may include gentle routines, digestive support, and herbs chosen by a qualified practitioner. These approaches are complementary to medical care.

Home Care & Habits

  • Regular sleep schedule; wind-down routine; limit late caffeine/stimulants.
  • Stress reduction (breathwork, meditation, light evening walk).
  • Hydration and balanced meals; avoid heavy, very spicy, or late-night meals.
  • If infection is suspected (fever, burning, discharge), seek medical evaluation promptly.

When to Seek Care

Get checked if you notice any of the following:

  • Painful urination, blood in urine/semen, fever, pelvic/testicular pain
  • Persistent discharge or foul odor
  • Significant distress, sleep disruption, or very frequent episodes
